I had a dream ... to participate in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Miraculously, this dream came true much sooner. In April 2016 I qualified for the Paralympic Games 2016 in RIO. I was allowed to swim 4 individual distances and the relay. After an intensive training period on September 8, 2016 my world was turned upside down. I received the first gold for TeamNL! I became Paralympic Champion in the 100m breaststroke! I swam in the series a World and Paralympic Record. Furthermore, I reached the Finals of all the distances I participated in and  I became 4th, 5th, 5th and 6th. I was the best Dutch of all distances, swam the Dutch Record in the 200m individual medley and I also won the Dutch Record with the relay team. Dreams come true!!!!

Despite the fact that my dream has come true, I want to be able to keep dreaming. In Tokyo I want to experience that great feeling again of standing on the podium and I dream of being able to stand on the podium for even more distances.

MY DREAM CONTINUES.............................................. ...............................................
